“Kaepernick is a hero we didn’t know we wanted” claims Fortune.com
I’m not buying it. The under-performing NFL player-turned-activist took the easy way out. He knew he was going to be fired for his awful performance and decided he’d go down in glory. With him taking the knee during the anthem and posing as a champion for minorities all across the United States, he was covering himself in case that he was let go – he’d be able to blame it on systemic racism towards his act of “heroism”.
Since his “brave gesture,” many have now followed suit, sheepishly taking the knee during the national anthem and disgracing those who gave their lives to let the country be disrespected in such a horrible manner. These players taking the knee are doing so because they are sick of what exactly? What would they like to change about the country? Do they want law enforcement to not shoot black people for sport? They are already living in that world. As a matter of fact, you are more likely to die to a black man if you are a cop than the reverse, but that will be another whole post. Not only is “taking the knee” disrespectful and cringeworthily asinine, it is completely dishonest and is a stunning display of just how little self-awareness these multi-millionaire, pampered children actually have, considering most of the players that are taking the knee have had run-ins with the law after having committed various (some alleged) crimes.
Let’s take a look at the history of just a few of these champions of social justice.
- Dez Bryant of the Dallas Cowboys was arrested in November 2012 for allegedly assaulting his mother. The same mother who was arrested and jailed for selling crack cocaine in 1997 AND arrested in 2009 for selling and again possessing crack cocaine. Not a very good track record for a man claiming he wants to fight social injustice when he has been the beneficiary of illegal drug trades.
- Adrian Peterson of the New Orleans Saints had a warrant out for his arrest for “reckless or negligent injury to a child” which, according to the Washington Post, allegedly resulted in “numerous injuries to the child” including cuts and bruises all over the child’s body, including his scrotum and buttocks. He acknowledged in text messages to the child’s mother that he assaulted the child and was full of remorse. Poor him.
- Marshawn Lynch of the Oakland Raiders pleaded guilty to a hit-and-run charge, was arrested in 2009 and 2010 for a concealed-carry weapons charge and an assault charge respectively. These three incidents obviously were not enough however and had to go and get himself arrested for DUI. He pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of reckless driving, causing him to receive a $1,033 fine, two years probation and a mandatory attendance of drivers’ safety classes.
Could it be that these shills are actually outraged and actually want social change, or could possibly be the fact that they like being worshipped by the American-hating left for embracing everything they idealize? It’s unfathomable to think that these hypocrites would dare to disgrace their national anthem for such a shallow, ill-informed cause, but being athletes I guess they aren’t exactly known for the intellectual ability.
